Logan Township Police Department – Crime Log 2/3/17
Jan 19: Police received information that a vehicle which had been reported stolen earlier in the day in West Deptford may be in the High Hill Farms development. The vehicle’s owner had begun to “track” a tablet that was inside the vehicle when it was stolen and it was displaying that the tablet was in the area of Persimmon Pl. As officers checked the area, the stolen vehicle was observed on High Hill Rd. Sgt. Ray Kennedy attempted to execute a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle, the operator, later identified as Brandon Wilson, attempted to flee. The vehicle was abandoned and Mr. Wilson fled from it on foot. A juvenile male passenger who remained in the vehicle was immediately apprehended. With the assistance of West Deptford Ptlm. Vergara and his K-9 partner Reaper, a track of suspect Wilson was started. While that track was underway, Ptlm. Bill Franklin located Wilson under a vehicle in a field just off of High Hill Rd.
The juvenile was charged on a Juvenile Petitiion with receiving stolen property and ultimately remanded to the Juvenile Detention Center in Blackwood. Brandon Wilson was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest by Flight and Eluding Police as well as numerous motor vehicle offenses. He was processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail.
The vehicle and the tablet were both returned to the custody of the rightful owner.
Jan 22: Police responded to Paulsboro Rd in the area of the Hidden Lake Farm for a report of a motor vehicle crash with the lone vehicle having rolled over possibly multiple times. Upon arrival the driver had walked away and was located approximately 1 mile away. He was subsequently taken into custody for DWI and ultimately transported to Cooper Hospital in Camden. He was released to the care of emergency room staff with a court appearance pending in Logan Township Municipal Court.
Jan 28: Incident to a Division of Child Protection and Permanency investigation, a 30 year old Camden City woman was arrested for being a wanted person from Bucks County, PA, with full extradition. She was subsequently charged with being a Fugitive from Justice, processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.
Jan 29: Police responded to a report of an assault at Artyza Bakery. Upon completion of the investigation, a 27 year old Pennsville woman was arrested for Simple Assault under the NJ Domestic Violence Guidelines as well as for several warrants from Camden City. She was subsequently processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.
Jan 29: Logan Township Police attempted to stop a black Honda for speeding on Route 130 in the Bridgeport section of the township. Upon the officer attempting to close the distance with the suspect vehicle, the vehicle accelerated and reached speeds as high as 120 MPH. The driver attempted to elude police and fled into the Gloucester County DREAM Park at Route 130 and High Hill Rd. A search of the Park located the vehicle hidden between two trucks and the occupants were taken into custody. The driver, a 20 year old Wilmington man, and a juvenile male passenger were subsequently arrested. The driver was charged with Eluding Police, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Trespassing and numerous motor vehicle offenses. He was processed and released pending Grand Jury action. The passenger was charged with Trespassing and Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana. He was processed and released pending Juvenile Court action.
Jan 30: Several unlocked vehicles were entered during the overnight hours and miscellaneous items were taken from within. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles to prevent such incidents from occurring.
Jan 30: An Abbey Lane resident reported that his 2009 Nissan Altima was stolen from his driveway overnight. The victim advised that he left the vehicle unlocked and keys were left inside. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from within to prevent such incidents from occurring.
Jan 31: A male attempted to shoplift more than $460 worth of baby formula from the ACME, 1619 Center Square Rd. As he exited the building with a loaded shopping cart without paying for any of the items, he was approached by employees at which time he abandoned the cart. The suspect, a white male in his 20’s, approximately 6’ 2” tall with piercings in his face, entered a vehicle and left the area. Efforts are underway to determine his identity.
Jan 31: Incident to a motor vehicle stop, a 21 year old man was arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension. During the course of the stop, he provided false information as to his identity in order to avoid arrest for an outstanding Penns Grove warrant. After being processed the defendant was turned over to Penns Grove Police.
Feb 2: Incident to a motor vehicle stop police seized a large quantity of marijuana which was packaged for distribution and a 9mm handgun. The driver, 26 year old Paulsboro man, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana Over 50g, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and several motor vehicle offenses. The driver was also found to have outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions. He was processed and turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department for transport to the Salem County Jail.
